Certified Translations

As a certified translator for Dutch to English and English to Dutch I have been sworn in by the District Court of Utrecht in the Netherlands. Most of the time when a client requires a certified (sworn) translation this will concern an official document, such as a notarial deed, a birth certificate or a diploma. I can provide such a translation, attached to the original document and containing my translator's statement, official stamp and signature. 

In order to deliver certified translations I am required to be listed in the register of the Dutch Government Agency for Sworn Court Interpreters and Translators, Bureau Wbtv. The Bureau Wbtv forms part of the Dutch Legal Aid Board and is charged by the minister of Security and Justice with the enforcement of sections of the Sworn Court Interpreters and Translators Act. Among its tasks, the Bureau Wbtv maintains the Register for Sworn Court Interpreters and Translators, from which Dutch government agencies, such as the Public Prosecution Service, the Courts and other judicial authorities choose translators or interpreters when required. Your documents will be handled with strict confidentiality, such is the ethical obligation I have towards you as a client. In my capacity as a sworn translator, I am also bound by law to maintain secrecy regarding the content you submit to my office for translation. Obviously there is a difference between a letter from a legal counsel addressed to a client, which contains sensitive, private information and the descriptions of garden furniture in an online shop, intended for everyone to read. Nevertheless, the texts you entrust me with for translation will always be kept with the utmost care and will not be shared with any other party whatsoever. This also applies to texts you may send me, which eventually do not result in a translation assignment for GS Translations.
